Anti-venom available in Schubert

November 28, 2011

Tanunda and Angaston hospitals both have stocks of snake anti-venom available.

Following recent media reports that the Gawler Health Service does not stock snake anti venom, Mr Venning contacted the Director of Health for the Barossa and surrounding areas, Deb Martin, who confirmed both hospitals have anti venom supplies on hand.

"I want to reassure residents that if during the summer they are unfortunate enough to be bitten by a snake that they will be able to seek treatment locally.

"Given the media reports I think it is important to get the message out that both Tanunda and Angaston are equipped with anti-venom.

"The last thing that someone who has been bitten by a snake would want is to be transported by family or friends to the Lyell McEwin or Royal Adelaide Hospitals for treatment unnecessarily.

"This information does raise the question, if Tanunda and Angaston both have anti-venom in stock, why doesn't Gawler?"

Countdown to election

until South Australians can make the
decision to put our state back on track.

South Australia deserves better.
